playa del carmen

our last evening in playa del carmen was spent with my cute man roaming around the beach and the street. it was absolutely lovely! my favorite thing to do is watch the sunset, walk along the beach, feel the occasionally cool of the water as the tide reaches your feet, and talk about this and that.
i don't quite remember if it was this night or a previous night, but we were all eating at this cute brick oven italian restaurant and sat at a table outside along the street. as we were eating a cop car zooms by us. didn't think much of it, but then another one flies by… then another.. and another.. about 15 cop cars later plus an abundant of firetrucks and ambulences lined down our street blocking off all street access. it lasted the entire time we were eating dinner, talk about dinner and a show. someone who passed by told us it was a huge drug bust. which didn't fully surprise us seeing how when we were walking down the street earlier (the street they were blocking off now) we had a few guys straight up asking us if we wanted heroin and other drugs.
i sure do love this guy!
as we were all walking along the street, all of a sudden, all of the power went out. some people started to panic a bit. lucky for iPhones and having flashlights on them ha. it all turned back on about 10 minutes later so it was all good. ah i just love the festiveness of the downtown life.
they had some awesome street shows including this traditional dance? i don't know if you can really call it a dance. but basically they all climb this tall pole, tie the rope to their feet, and then all swing upside down as the rope unravels until they get to the bottom. yikes, talk about getting dizzy! i remember learning about this tradition in one of my spanish classes. but i couldn't really tell you any more about it unless i wikipediaed it ha. whoops.. shows how much i remembered.
con amor,
lo
