Cloudland Canyon

the other week kenneth and i went to cloudland canyon state park in north georgia. we had been wanting to go hike around there for awhile but we were really wanting to go a.) after it had been raining for a while so the waterfalls would be really pumping and b.) after it had been really cold and hopefully snowed

i'm used to hawaii waterfalls and i thought it would be really beautiful to see a waterfall with snow surrounding it. but we kept waiting and waiting for those two things to happen (plus waiting for us to have a free day) and it just never happened so one morning we woke up and last minute decided to go ahead and go. and i'm so glad we did because it was still so beautiful! there was a little snow around the waterfalls and trails, plus lots of icicles so i was excited we lucked out with that element.

it's always so funny to us when we go hiking because we read the description on the state park websites and read how long the hike is, how difficult it is, etc. and it makes it sound so long and difficult and then it ends up being the easiest thing ever. i think we're just used to hiking in hawaii, off the beaten path, on various mountains, trespassing haha. i know the day is going to come where kenneth and i will go back to hawaii and do all our favorite hikes again and we will probably think they are the hardest thing because we will be so out of shape haha. i miss the active lifestyle we had in hawaii. i even miss the days of not having a car and walking/biking/hitch hiking everywhere ha.

the first waterfall we visited was so breathtaking. we saw a total of 4 other people the entire time we were there and we were the only ones at every waterfall which was truly a special moment.
i was wearing workout leggings but then we got out of the car & we hiked for about 2 minutes and i decided it was too cold and threw my jeans on top haha #stylish
^^ shout out to my sister-in-law, desi, who made that headband i'm wearing. she's so talented when it comes to crocheting, she makes the cutest stuff. i keep telling her she needs to open up her own etsy shop. also, shout out to my husband who always encourages me to not wear makeup because he thinks i'm beautiful regardless. he is always showering me with complements even when i don't feel pretty. he's the best.
all the trails were so pretty with gorgeous views. it was a lot of stairs.
i'm so curious as to what it would look like if the weather was colder because we saw so many icicles and it was above freezing conditions.
the second waterfall we saw was taller than the first but you couldn't get very close to it. in fact there were lots of no trespassing signs that we sort of ignored (cough, cough..kenneth). but in hawaii, it feels like every cool hike there is illegal but you never get in trouble for doing it so we're a little used to ignoring those signs haha. kenneth always tells me that if we get in trouble that he will just start rambling his spanish and i should ramble the little spanish i know and we can pretend like we're tourists from spain haha. they'll believe that, right?!
^i had fun playing around with my camera settings haha.
^^ and of course i had to take a picture of the sunset when we stopped to fill up with gas, so pretty!

such a beautiful day. i loved it. i love how you georgia has it all. you have the city, the farm, the mountains, the beach and all 4 seasons. i think this was my favorite state park so far, i definitely recommend it!
