Being Tourists

still playing catchup from this summer, i'm determined to finish!
so after our wonderful honeymoon, kenneth and i flew back into los angeles. we spent the night at my aunt and uncle's house. but made a quick pit stop to see the los angeles temple and walk around the grounds before it closed. wow! so pretty! i never realized how big that temple is. extremely beautiful, but i mean what temple isn't? we then arrived at my aunt & uncle's house, seriously i love them so much. it was so fun to see them again, even for just a little bit.
the next morning we set off to explore LA and santa monica a little bit. we also might have sat in our car and unwrapped our wedding present too haha.
we also went to balboa island. when i was in high school i went to southern california for the first time and fell in love with balboa island. it was the first time i ever experienced frozen yogurt (this was before it was a huge deal) and i stopped by the famous balboa bar shops and embraced my inner summer roberts. five points to you if you know what i'm talking about. if you don't let me explain... my all time favorite television show is the OC. judge all you want but i secretly hold out hope that seth cohen comes into my life (sorry kenneth, but he knew this before we got married). they have a sign there where all the cast members autographed it and it just makes me feel so wonderful.

then we headed down towards san diego and spent a couple days at kenneth's sister's house. kenneth's parents were there too so it was fun to hang out with all of them and enjoy some beach time.
i especially loved hanging out with my cute niece maddi, she's a crack up.

love my niece and nephew so much!
before leaving we made a stop at the san diego temple and i'm so glad we did. it was beautifulllll. most of kenneth's family all went together while we were on our honeymoon and i was bummed we didn't get to go with but i'm so glad the two of us still made the time to go together. everyone inside could tell that we were newlyweds and they were all so sweet and friendly!
we then started our summer roadtrip. wedding planning sucked. i mean i loved the wedding and i would love to do that again, just without the planning part haha. we originally were planning on getting married in april, but do to a lot of complicated schedules and trying to please everyone, we pushed it back to june. we weren't really thrilled about that because after 3 years of dating, we were ready haha. so we decided we deserved a month long honeymoon as our reward haha. we went to mexico for a week and then decided to take a fun roadtrip around the west coast and it was one of the best ideas we had.

after san diego we headed to las vegas! i have never been there before and i mean, it's just a city you have to see at least once. we arrived late at night and basically crashed immediately after checking into our hotel at the flamingo.
las vegas was HOT. like oh my goodness it was toasty hot. we spent the day at the pool at the hotel and wandering around the strip. we watched the fountain show at the belagio, ate the most delicious ice cream cookie sandwich from the sugar factory and attempted to gamble. yeah... it was a little too complicated for me to figure out. i had big plans of winning a million dollars but what to do ya do.
we then headed to the hoover dam. it was soooo windy and i literally screamed at one point when a big gust of wind came and grabbed onto kenneth because i was 100% convinced i was going to blow off the edge haha. i was pretty amazed by the hoover dam. it's just so big. and it blows my mind trying to understand how they built it.
afterwards we headed back in the car and drove to our hotel in arizona. it was hot. i basically wore my bathing suit 24/7 during our roadtrip. our ac was not ideal.... that's another story haha.
kenneth is the best roadtrip buddy ever. we have spent SO many hours in the car together and we just jam together like macklemore and ryan lewis. also we had a big "JUST MARRIED" on the back of our car and a "HONK IF YOU'RE HORNY" haha so the entire roadtrip was extremely entertaining. people were always honking and waving at us. and our windows were always down because of the whole bad ac thing and it was hillarious. sitting in traffic, oh my. i think next time we go on a roadtrip we will write "just married" on the back of our car just for kicks.
